Approach to Sessions

I’m trained as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and engage in the work from a systems perspective, meaning I believe people, places, our past, our identities, our bodies, and the social, political, and economic systems we live in, all can have a profound impact on us. I celebrate differences and advocate for equity of all body sizes, abilities, ages, races, cultures, sexualities, gender identities and expressions, and religions.

My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and welcomes all people navigating reproductive health and identity.

I take an active, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach with my clients. I’m very curious, ask a lot of questions, will sit in the mud with you, and will respectfully challenge you when appropriate. I believe we, as humans, already hold an innate wisdom to navigate our lives and can often benefit from fewer “should’s” and more self-compassion.

I’m trained in the evidenced-based modality, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT–pronounced as the single word “act”). You can think of ACT as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy’s new, hip cousin.

ACT helps people struggling with challenges like stress, depression, grief, and anxiety and supports us in learning new skills to be with difficult thoughts and feelings so you can live the life you want to.

ACT helps you become:

Aware of your thoughts with less rumination

Open to your emotions with less self-criticism

Engaged in your life in a way that aligns with your values
